Search better on UNLV.edu

Couldn't find what you want on the university (UNLV.edu) site?

Are you frustrated with the poor quality of the UNLV.edu search engine?

Here's a way to find Google quality search results on the UNLV site. The solution is to use Google itself for searching the university website.

1. Search for UNLV on Google.
2. You see the first result as UNLV.edu (obviously)
3. Along with the link to unlv.edu, Google search incorporates other most popular links within unlv.edu domain and gives a search bar to search within this domain.

Google has been doing this for long and this is the first time, I found it useful. Its not just for UNLV, its applicable to not only sites in .edu domain but also popular sites in other domains (.com, .info, etc) too.

OPT period extended for 29 months!

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) extended Optional Practical Training (OPT) period from 12 months to 29 months for qualified F1 students.

In a press release, DHS says "By extending the training period by an additional 17 months to students who are employed by businesses enrolled in E-Verify, we are ensuring a legal workforce in the U.S. and aiding good corporate citizens."

This would mean a lot more flexible plans for students on F1 visa status. For me, I need not spend on H1 visa to get my two years work experience before I pursue my other goals.

Auto forward from University email account to your primary email account!

Often we curse for logging into multiple email accounts, especially university mail account. We can auto forward all our emails in university mail (unlv.nevada.edu) to our primary mail account (say gmail).

Go to UNLV Home Page.
Click on Current Students.
In the new page, click on 'Activate now' button under rebel mail section.
On the left hand side menu, find and click on 'Forward email'
Click on the link on step #1: Log into account management.

Or

Most of the students already auto forward emails from their university email account. This post should help the rest.

Memories

Randomly surfing the net for something, I stumbled upon this -->.

It SUDDENLY brought back a massive flood of memories from childhood. My dad would play it on repeat, and it was one of the only songs that distracted me long enough to have my dinner. There's something inherently happiness-inducing about it. So yes, definitely one of my top childhood memory songs. We all have songs that remind us of our diaper/cerelac days. What are some of _yours_?
